The Future of College Football Now Runs Through the U.S. Senate
Heather Dinich told on Full Ride why her visit to the White House summit revealed a hard truth: until Congress acts, the chaos of NIL, lawsuits, and runaway spending isn’t going anywhere.
Heather Dinich said it best.
“The future of college football comes down to the U.S. Senate.”
The ESPN college football writer joined Full Ride with Rick Neuheisel and me this morning and gave listeners a fascinating inside look at the “Save College Sports” meeting held at the White House last Friday.
Dinich was actually there in person. The gathering was hosted by President Donald Trump and included a mix of major power brokers from across the sports world and Washington. SEC commissioner Greg Sankey was in attendance. Legendary Alabama coach Nick Saban was there. Leaders connected to Olympic sports were present as well, along with lawmakers and other stakeholders trying to figure out what the next version of college athletics should look like.
On paper, it sounded like the kind of summit that could shape the future of college sports.
